Kauser Ramzan (pictured fifth from the left) has lived in England for 19 years. She is a 56-year-old mother and grandmother who has survived domestic violence and protected her children - now aged from 39 to 19 - most of whom are British citizens.
In 1984, after ten years as a married woman in Britain she was forced to leave the UK by her husband and took three of her children with her to Pakistan. She was not aware of her immigration status at that time because her husband kept her passport and she was continuously threatened by him. Her first husband divorced her when she was in Pakistan.
When she remarried she had four more children, but her second husband was an alcoholic who would regularly beat her and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about his violence. She sustained severe and enduring injuries over the four years that they lived together. To save her life, Kauser had to leave her younger children in Pakistan and came back to the UK in 1993 to join her older children. She has lived here ever since. Since 2007, and with the help of her children and RAPAR, Kauser has been trying to sort out her status in the UK. Now, the Home Office have called her for interview to Dallas Court Reporting Centre. She is not allowed to bring any family member inside with her but her family and RAPAR supporters will be outside waiting for her: Tuesday 30th October from 1pm onwards at Dallas Court reporting centre, 1-2 Dallas Court, South Langworthy Road, Salford, M50 2GF. 01/11/12 - Kauser's Dallas Court visit
Kauser's family and members from RAPAR waited outside Dallas Court Reporting Centre while she was being interviewed. (See photos below.) The solidarity and support shown by her family and RAPAR was greatly acknowledged by Kauser after her 40 minute interview, as she exited the building with a smile of relief. However, Kauser's struggle is by no means over. She needs your continuous support to secure her right to remain in the UK with her children and grandchildren. |
